Adverb of Time

Buenos días estudiantes

In the last class we discussed time telling. I hope you are doing work work routinely.
I feel that there is serious lack of actual communication between us. So  I want you to write your queries in the comment section. First you will mark you attendance and then you will write your queries.
While you comment your queries, do write your name after your question. You can also ask me about previous topics.

Today we are going to discuss adverbs of frequency and how to use them in sentences.

Few Instructions

1. Note down  the work in your register on a regular basis.
2. Notify me about  your presence in the class  as soon as you join, in the comment section. Just  write " Good Morning" along with your name .
3. AS ALREADY MENTIONED,YOU CAN USE ANY NOTEBOOK AVAILABLE AND SUBMIT SEPARATELY ONCE THE SCHOOL REOPENS.
4. Take your Spanish Register
5.Our handwriting reflects a lot about us. It will be awesome if you use good presentation and cursive hand writing
6. Make a column on the right hand side, if you need to do any rough work
7.Write today's date.

Learning Outcome

After the completion of this topic I will learn :

a) Learn adverbs
b) Write one verb sentence using adverbs
c) Spanish syntax ( Sentence structure )

Before we proceed to talk about Adverb of Time/frequency, lets first see the structure of spanish
sentence with one verb without adverb or adjective

Adverbs

Adverbs are words used to modify or describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. An adverb can give information about time, place, manner, or number and answer questions

Types of Adverbs

Adverbs can be categorized into several types, including adverbs of placeadverbs of timeadverbs of quantity, and adverbs of manner.

The majority of adverbs in English end in –ly.

Today we are going to talk about Adverb of Time/frequency.

Structure of sentences with adverb
  • An adverb usually comes after the verb/adjective/adverb it modifies.
  • An adverb can come before the verb as well
por ejemplo :

Juan trabaja lenta y cuidadosamente.   ⇢⇢   Juan - Subject
Juan works slowly and carefully.                      trabaja - Verbs
                                                                        Lenta y cuidadosamente - adverb

El chico le habló clara y cortésmente.         ⇢⇢ El chico - subject
The boy spoke to him clearly and courteously           Habló (spoke) - verb
                                                                                   Clara y cortésmente - adverb
[ Note : When two adverbs modify the same verb, only the second one uses the -mente ending. Note that the first adverb is the same as the feminine singular form of the adjective ]

  • Most Spanish adverbs are formed by adding -mente to the feminine singular form of the adjective. This ending corresponds to -ly in English.

Note down some common adverbs of time.
